Veveří 2008

Knights at the Veveří Castle

The folk rhyme says that the Veveří Castle has nine towers and anyone who does not believe it should come to check.

Many "Doubting Thomases" really came to the Veveří Castle; not only to make sure the castle really has nine towers. They were the guests invited to the "Knight tilt", which was prepared for our employees and mainly for their children on Saturday October 4th. The program started at 11 a.m. and, until 5:30 p.m., the stage was continuously occupied by alternating groups: music band Tabard, Vítek the juggler, "Komedianti na káře", a comedy group, the Grál historical fencing group, and demonstrations of bird of prey training. The childrens' tickets were redeemable, but before the children could throw them in the polling urn, they had to pass the "Castle knight's path" and correctly complete it. Meanwhile, Vítek the juggler amazed us with his art, and "Komedianti na káře" performed the fairytale, "O prince Bajajovi". Then it was the time for the demonstration of the birds of prey training. Oskar (the raven) showed to all of us how he gets his prey with no special effort: he stole it from the hunter's bag! But Šahí (the falcon) decided, that he was not in mood for any performance, and instead he watched us from the top of the castle - he sat there for good two hours. And what did the children like the best? For the smallest ones, it was definitely the fairytale performed by Komedianti na káře. And. Vítek the juggler received enthusiastic applause.

The Knights tilt on the castle was very successful; the polling urn contained tickets completed by 198 children!

To those who enjoyed the event at the Castle Veveří, we can promise now that although it was the first time, it certainly would not be the last.

Once again, we would like to thank everybody who came to the castle and enjoyed, along with us and the children, a beautiful day full of games.
