All our activities are carried out with regard to the living environment.
The mission of the E.ON energetic group is to reliably supply customers with electricity in an environmentally friendly way and to provide the best possible services.
In the sphere of the environmental protection, the executive management of the E.ON energetic group considers necessary
- to ensure conformity of performed activities with legal requirements and with requirements that the company undertakes to meet
- to minimize adverse affects of the company activities on the living environment, especially in the sphere of disposal of petroleum and other hazardous substances
- to gradually liquidate older environmental stress on the company’s premises
- to eliminate birds kill on electric lines
- to exercise influence on our own employees and on contractors as regards environmental conservation with the aim to increase their consciousness and to minimize the human factor negative impact in such a way
- to communicate the environmental protection questions with public, authorities and other concerned parties
Environmental resources
We buy the majority of electricity supplied to our customers from other producers and contractors. The E.ON energy group
generates the electricity in the Czech Republic from renewable (water) resources, as well as in heating plants
(heating and power plant Tábor, heating and power plant Kyjov). We own and operate six hydroelectric power plants.
The heat made and sold by the Group is produced in a heating and power plant which is the source of air pollution, with natural gas used as a fuel, and which is not a subject to the responsibility to keep records of the carbon dioxide production.
Human health protection
Power transmission poles, underground cables, transformer stations and other energy industry equipment serving for electricity
distribution and consequently also for sale can be potentially dangerous to life, if specific principles of security are not
observed or if emergency situation occurs. Therefore, our company pays great attention to ensure their active and passive
security in the development of energy industry equipment. Informing general public on possible hazards is one of the
possibilities how to protect the health of every individual, which may come into contact with any energy industry equipment
under a given situation.
Birds protection
The E.ON energetic group actively restricts the negative impact of high-voltage transmission lines on birds’ life in the
open country. For the development of new distribution lines of electricity and in reconstruction of old ones we use the
"claw" type brackets, which prevent birds from landing and consequently their killing due to voltage arc flashover.
Upon agreement with organizations that are engaged in nature conservation or with the management of natural preserves, we build discarded power-transmission poles on appropriate place and we mount the so called "stork hatches" on their tops. The construction is intended for artificial nesting of storks, which otherwise build their nests on dangerous places of open-air low-voltage transmission lines or transforming stations.
Protection of soil, water and plants
All our activities and equipments for electricity distribution comply with the most strict environmental protection
requirements and standards. Our goal is to completely eliminate the possibility of escape of oils, which are used as a filling in energy devices, into the soil or surface or underground waters.
In forest rides, especially in natural preserves and the Šumava National Park, simple insulated wires are used on distribution lines. These lines have narrower protection ranges. Thus, it’s not necessary to carry out deep cuts in forest stands.
We also make effort to maintain the distribution lines in the land and forests so that the cuts in woods would be necessary only from the view of the energy distribution security and human health.
