Representatives of the German concern E.ON stated yesterday that the company is to endeavour to strengthen its position in the Czech gas industry. Its aim is to strengthen primarily in the area of distribution, which primarily represents controlling South Bohemian and South Moravian gas and plants in places where the concern has a strong position in the field of electricity. E.ON has a share in a total of 7 gas companies in the Czech Republic.
From the perspective of electricity, E.ON is focusing in another direction and has no targets for acquisition or planned constructions.
E.ON representatives also showed their plans for the domestic German market. The energy scion of the company predicts investment into the development of new plants in 2006-2008 of approximately EUR 6.8 billion. According to analyses, however, a full third of the concern’s plants will be obsolete by 2020, and a number of others will become obsolete after that. Furthermore, the company has to try to find replacements for nuclear energy, which represents approximately 40% of the concern’s production and which is to be fully terminated in Germany by 2021.
