Ora et Labora – pray and work, is the name of one of the Benedictine monastic orders' programme. Its mission is the rescue and use of one of the immovable cultural monuments – the Benedictine Monastery, the Baroque gem which is the oldest monastery in Moravia, rebuilt after the latest project by the famous architect J. B. Santini-Aichel.
Anther goal is to save the cultural monument – the Library fund and all movable items in the monastery library. This has been completed already.
The Foundation closely cooperates with the proprietor – the Benedictine Abbacy – and, together with the town of Rajhrad, it is instrumental in obtaining resources needed for repairs. It works only due to voluntary efforts of its members, without any claims for reward and it has no full-time employees. Special-purpose subsidies gained from the cultural heritage fund serve for gradual safeguarding of the building static and these were granted for the restoration of the Library, too. The completion of all building repairs is, however, a "long run". The entire reconstruction is estimated to amount to at least CZK 1 billion.
