Gradual promotion of the corporate responsibility in the companies is characterized by a higher integration of CR with strategic and risk management. The Corporate Governance represents methods and procedures applied to the company management, which enable promotion of ideas of responsible acting within the company, e.g. transparency, open manners and integrity, and which provide for verifiability of the entire administration and management on the part the shareholders, the public and the state as well.
One of the pillars of the Corporate Governance in E.ON is the Code of Ethics applicable to the entire corporate group. This concerns a set of rules, which are based on values and principles of the group, and which define the standard of the professional behaviour. The so-called Business Compliance Officer is responsible for putting the Code of Ethics into practice.
An important component part of the Corporate Governance is the Risk Management, the outputs of which are used for direct management of the company. For the purpose of reinforcement of the control mechanisms concerning administration of the shareholders' property in E.ON, the early warning system has been introduced, which serves the executive management of the company as an accident-prevention instrument in case of possible risks, and which assists with strategic decisions.
Investors base their decisions on the rating of companies, which is the result of assessment of the economic, social and environmental details concerning the respective company. The global instrument of the rating of companies by their corporate responsibility is the Dow Jones Sustainable Index. Among the outstanding achievements of the E.ON there is the fact that the company has contributed to the creation of the index of the sustainable development rating.
