One of the aspects of our corporate responsibility is a systematic effort to minimize the negative impacts of our activities on the environment. Within the framework of our activities, we therefore have to analyze impacts of our activities on the environment, try hard to apply the best technologies and methods available on the market, and of course adhere to the environmental standards.
Within the framework of the concentration on the environment protection, the E.ON Czech deals with the following issues:
Operational protection of the environment
All activities and operating procedures of the E.ON Czech are realized in accordance with the legal regulations and requirements of the respective bodies of the state administration of the Czech Republic. All operating procedures are designed with the intention to reduce the quantity of the resulting wastes. Our efforts are to pay attention to the environment-friendly behaviour of our employees in all working places. Our procedures, materials as well as suppliers are selected with regard to their approach to the environment protection. For the purpose of the waste disposal, we have elaborated the intra-company procedures, the adherence to which is inspected on a regular basis; the utilizable material is transferred to be recycled.
Climate protection and energy effectiveness
The climate protection in our understanding means in particular reduction in the greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere. This issue is being solved by means of a modification of the production technology - the fuel, combustion and production efficiency and purification of the exhaust gases. Possibilities of an increase in the energy effectiveness concern in particular two areas - energy savings and an increase in the efficiency of the environmentally friendly technologies used for generation of energy. For example in the heating plant Tábor there is installed fluid boiler and in the heating plant Kyjov is exploited the heat from the glass furnace.
The E.ON Czech also deals with the use of renewable resources for energy generation. In the heating plant Mydlovary there is as fuel used natural gas and the combined generation of electricity and heat with utilization of biomass is in preparation. We get energy from water in the hydro power stations Písek, Soběnov, Vranov, Vír I and Vír II.
Biodiversity
Within the framework of energy production and distribution, we pay attention to using such procedures and equipment, which do the least possible harm to the landscape, animals and birds.
In our case, this means using the carrying brackets on the high-tension power-transmission poles having a claw-like shape, which prevent birds from sitting on the power conductors. In other locations, where birds are not endangered by the power conductors, the power-transmission poles are equipped with fixtures, which enable birds to sit on them. In the protected landscape areas, the out-phased poles are used and equipped with platforms to enable storks to build their nests there.
In the woods located within the protected landscape areas, insulated power conductors are used as frequently as possible so the protective zones do not have to be so extensive.
Land after extraction or otherwise contaminated is reclaimed, substitute planting is realized to compensate the transmission lines.
