E.ON ČR Junior Cup 2005

The finals of the E.ON ČR Junior Cup 2005 for under 10 football players, which took place at E.ON STADION - the home turf of SK Dynamo - in České Budějovice on Sunday (June 5) has shown that the South Bohemians from SK Dynamo České Budějovice have the most promising football prospects.

In addition to winning the challenge cup, the home team Dynamo also advanced to the 11th international indoor tournament in Gilching, Germany, which it will visit on November 19-20. The costs of the participation in the international tournament, which will be a great experience for the young players, will be covered by the organizer of the tournament - energy industry company E.ON.

"We are very happy about the victory and about the boys' trip to the international tournament in Germany," said coaches Miroslav Šenkýř and Jan Klimek shortly after the win of their team.

Slovan Břilice ended up second, losing to the winner in a penalty shootout after a 1:1 draw. Players of ZVVZ Milevsko A  claimed the third spot. SK Strakonice ranked fourth, Sokol Sezimovo Ústí ranked fifth, FK Slavoj Český Krumlov A ranked sixth, SK Čtyři Dvory claimed the seventh spot and Tatran Prachatice ended up on the last, eight spot. A girl, Barbora Majerová from Sokol Sezimovo Ústí, was selected the Goalkeeper of the Tournament, Daniel Januš from ZVVZ Milevsko was the Best Goal Scorer of the Tournament with eight goals and Michal Vávra was selected the Player of the Tournament. All participants received valuable prizes from energy industry company E.ON and the best ones received a prize that they really appreciated, a jersey signed by our top football player Tomáš Rosický.

The tournament started at nine in the morning. Before it began, the teams were split in two groups in which all sides faced each other in 2 x 15 minutes matches. The first two teams from each group advanced to the semifinals and the semifinals winners went on to the finals. In the meantime, the other teams were competing for ranking.

"This final match topped off the biggest tournament for under 10 players in the South Bohemian region. For the young football players, it was a thrilling experience," said the guarantor of the final tournament and head of the youth training center, SK Dynamo Petr Skála.

The young players looked forward to the Sunday's E.ON ČR Junior Cup 2005 finals. "We are going to win. But we will have to defeat our biggest rival - SK Dynamo," said Pavel Kortus of SK Čtyři Dvory prior to the beginning of the tournament. His teammates Petr Volf and David Metlík added that they would really like to take part in the international tournament in Germany. "I'd like to become a pro player, it would probably be best to play for Chelsea," said Volf.

Earlier this year, the event's organizer E.ON became a key sponsor of youth football in South Bohemia. "We want to support South Bohemian football clubs in order to make it possible for the youth programs to keep developing," said board member of E.ON Česká republika, s.r.o., Karel Dietrich Nespěšný. "We are pleased that E.ON decided to start supporting youth programs in the region. For the boys, events like this are a truly great experience," said Skála.

The final tournament at E.ON STADION was the climax of a series of qualifying tournaments that were taking place successively in all former South Bohemia district towns from April 10 - in České Budějovice, Český Krumlov, Prachatice, Strakonice, Jindřichův Hradec, Tábor and Písek. 900 children took part. The final tournament was a match up of the qualifying tournaments' winners. Pro football players Jiří Povišer and Jiří Lerch as well as representatives of the Jihočeský fotbal association also attended the event.
